Is a fluorometer the same as a spectrophotometer?

A fluorometer and a spectrophotometer are similar in that both measure properties of light, but they are designed for different purposes and work on distinct principles. A fluorometer measures the fluorescence emitted by a sample after it absorbs light of a specific wavelength. On the other hand, a spectrophotometer measures the amount of light absorbed or transmitted by a sample across a range of wavelengths.
