General description: Apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) is a 79 amino acid protein with a molecular weight of 8.8kDa. It is present on high density, low density and triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 11q23.3.
Biochem/physiol Actions: Apolipoprotein C3 (APOC3) is involved in the metabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins. It may have a role in atherosclerosis. The protein stimulates hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) by inhibiting the activity of lipoprotein lipase and interfering with the binding of APOB or APOE to hepatic receptors. It also promotes very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) assembly and secretion in the liver.
Immunogen: APOC3 (NP_000031.1, 21 a.a. ~ 99 a.a) partial recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.SequenceSEAEDASLLSFMQGYMKHATKTAKDALSSVQESQVAQQARGWVTDGFSSLKDYWSTVKDKFSEFWDLDPEVRPTSAVAA
