Application: All Prestige Antibodies(R)Powered by Atlas Antibodies is developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org). Each antibody is tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues. These images can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: ZEB1 (zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1) is an EMT (epithelial-mesenchymal transition) transcription factor and controls the expression of E-cadherin. It works as a repressor for E-cadherin and thereby induces EMT. Thus, ZEB1 plays an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. Epigenetic suppression of ZEB1 might be a useful tool for overcoming drug resistance in human breast cancer. Mutations in this gene are associated with posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy and Fuchs' endothelial corneal dystrophy (FECD6). The ZEB1 gene is mapped to human chromosome 10p11.2.
