Stathmin-3 (STMN3), a 180 amino acid protein, belongs to the stathmin family of phospho-proteins. It is localized in the Golgi complex and is seen in the vesicles along axons and dendrites.
Synonyms: Anti-SCG10-like protein; Anti-Stathmin-3
Storage: -20C
Application: All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project (www.proteinatlas.org)and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. Biochem Physiol Actions: Stathmin-3 (STMN3) is mainly involved in regulating dendritic formation and axonal branching. It interacts with Ras protein-specific guanine nucleotide-releasing factor 1 (RasGRF1) and suppresses RasGRF1-mediated activation of Rac (GTPase)/p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) pathway. The Dbl-homology (DH) domain of RasGRF1 is responsible for its exchange activity on Rac. STMN3 association with RasGRF1 masks this DH domain. It is largely known as a microtubule-destabilizing protein which prevents the polymerization of microtubules by sequestering soluble tubulin heterodimers. High levels of STMN3 are observed in metastatic ovarian cancer tissue.
